Office of the Chair
The Department of Family and Community Medicine is chaired by Roger Zoorob MD, MPH, Dr. Zoorob completed his residency training in Family Medicine at Anderson Memorial Hospital in South Carolina. He has a Masters in Public Health, completed a Faculty Development Fellowship in 1996 at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, and is a diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Zoorob joined MMC in November 2003 and also holds the titles of Frank S. Royal Sr. Professor of Family and Community Medicine at Meharry and Director of Family Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Zoorob is the Scientific Director for the Meharrry EXPORT Center for Health Disparities and director of its Research Core. He is also the Principal Investigator and Director of the Regional Education Center for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome funded by CDC.
Before coming to Meharry Medical College, Dr. Zoorob was at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans where he served as Associate Chair for Academic Affairs and Research, the Department of Family Medicine and as Director of the Family Practice Residency Training Program at Kenner Regional Medical Center. While at Louisiana State University, a new Family Medicine residency in New Orleans was established by Dr. Zoorob. |
